Motorer of the Month...

Name: Wanda Baker
Member Since: 2003, we are now a 2 MINI family.

Family: I live on the West side of Indy with my husband of 33 years, Mike Baker. I have a son who turns 42 this year, with a grandson who is 21 and a granddaughter who is 13. My son, his wife and my granddaughter live in Virginia Beach, VA and my grandson now lives in New Albany with his Mother and family. I have lived in Indiana for 34 years. I guess you can call me a Hoosier, but I like the term “transplant” better.

MINI's Name: TazMini short for "TazMINIan Devil" because he likes to get a little testy in second gear for me and he wants to run fast and get away.
Model: MCS (R56) It is Sparkling Silver (but it looks like expensive Champagne,) with a redwood red interior. (Mike thinks it is Wilson basketball color)
Year: 2007
Modifications: I will not let Mike mod this car out since the blue one was originally mine, until he started changing everything.

Hobbies (besides motoring): Weaving baskets (my passion), beading jewelry, reading books, camping, and anything to do with a road trip in a Mini. Oh, I guess you could call me a Star Trek geek also. With going to a ton of Star Trek conventions, we have met almost every main character actor on all of the series as well as a lot of the secondary actors on the shows. Favorite book I have read. When I first discovered Science fiction (in the 1960’s) I fell in love with Robert Heinlein, so I would have to say anything by him. Currently I read everything by James Patterson, but love the Alex Cross series best. I am also excited to get my hands on the new Harry Potter book when it arrives. I will have to fight Mike for it though.

Day Job: I have been retired for just over 13 years from Blocks/Lazarus/Macy’s. I gave them 21 years of my time.

Favorite MINI Color: Hmmm... that is hard. I really think I liked the Red Velvet when it first came out. It looked like Chocolate and I could have called it Hershey.

Favorite MINI Moment: the first time on the Dragon.

Favorite MINICCI Memory: . I have a short memory span, but I guess I would have to say Marv & Doris’s Fort Wayne trip last year. I had so much fun with everyone. I love the weekend trips and am looking forward to the Pennsylvania Falling Water Trip. I hope we plan more weekend trips.
